Measures to Prevent Spread of Covid-19

Request for understanding and cooperation to prevent spread of Covid-19

Policies for this event regarding measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection are subject to change based on the response policies set by the Japanese government, changes in the spread of infection, etc.
Please check the event home page periodically for notifications regarding changes to these measures.

Only those who satisfy the following conditions will be allowed to participate in the event:

  1. If you have symptoms, February 6, 2023 (Monday), and if you do not have symptoms, you must not be confirmed to be positive in a new coronavirus infection test after February 8, 2023 (Wednesday).
  2. If you have had close contact with someone infected with Covid-19, you have monitored your health carefully and have observed no symptoms for 7 days through Thursday, February 16, 2023.
  3. As of Sunday, February 5, 2023 or after, you have not travelled to countries or regions from which entry to Japan has been restricted or for which health observation after entry is required, as deemed by the Japanese government. In addition, you have not had close contact with a resident of any of these countries or regions.
  4. As of Sunday, February 12, 2023 or after, you do not show any suspected Covid-19 symptoms such as a fever of 37.5℃ or higher, coughing, sore throat, etc.
  5. On the day of the event, you are not living with a family member or have had recent contact with someone who is suspected of being infected.
  6. On the day of the event, you do not have a fever of 37.5℃ or higher.
  7. On the day of the event, you have used designated by the host the Health Monitoring Check Sheet to confirm your identity and report your health status.

Participants must adhere to the following code of conduct:

Monitor your health

Keep track of your health using the Health Monitoring Check Sheet.
(Health monitoring and body temperature should be recorded from Sunday, February 12, 2023 through the date of registration on either February 17 or 18)

Keep track of your body temperature

Allow event staff to take your temperature at runner registration, when entering the expo, and on the day of the event.
(You will not be allowed to participate if you have a fever of 37. 5℃ or higher.)

Use changing areas appropriately

Change your clothes quickly in the designated changing areas.

If possible, it is best to come to the event already wearing the clothes you will run in.

Wear a mask

Wear a mask (preferably a non-woven mask) at all times when not running.
(Leave your mask on until just before you start running and put it back on after you finish.)

Refrain from talking to others while not wearing a mask.

Always wear a mask indoors.

Be mindful when eating and drinking

Refrain from talking, maintain social distance, etc., to prevent the spread of infection while drinking and eating.

Dispose of waste properly

Take your garbage home with you (including used masks and food/drink waste brought to the marathon).

Do not spit on the course while running.

Kumamoto Castle Marathon 2023 Guidelines for Preventing Spread of Covid-19

These guidelines have been established to prevent the spread of Covid-19 during the Kumamoto Castle Marathon 2023. Please read and agree to comply with the requirements for participation and the code of conduct before applying to run.
Please note that these guidelines are subject to change depending on Covid-19 conditions and other factors.

1. Prerequisites for Holding the Event

  1. Kumamoto Prefecture is not in a state of emergency and there are no restrictions on movement between regions or instructions from the government to stay home or cancel events.
  2. The governments of both Kumamoto Prefecture and Kumamoto City have agreed to hold the event as scheduled.
  3. The necessary staff, etc., can be assembled to ensure adequate management for a safe event.
  4. Covid-19 infections are at levels manageable by Kumamoto City medical facilities and staff, thereby ensuring adequate emergency medical assistance at the event.

2. Participation Requirements

  1. If you have symptoms, February 6, 2023 (Monday), and if you do not have symptoms, you must not be confirmed to be positive in a new coronavirus infection test after February 8, 2023 (Wednesday).
  2. If participant has had close contact with someone infected by Covid-19, participant has monitored their health carefully and has observed no symptoms for 7 days through Thursday, February 16, 2023.
  3. In addition, participant has not had close contact with a resident of any of these countries or regions.
  4. As of Sunday, February 12, 2023 or after, participant does not display any suspected Covid-19 symptoms such as a fever of 37.5℃ or higher, coughing, sore throat, etc.
  5. On the day of the event, participant is not living with/had close contact with a family member or someone else suspected of being infected.
  6. On the day of the event, participant does not have a fever of 37.5℃ or higher.
  7. On the day of the event, you have used designated by the host the Health Monitoring Check Sheet to confirm your identity and report your health status.
Points to Note
  1. Participants over 65 years old or with underlying health conditions are at risk of more severe Covid-19 infections and should be aware of this fact before participating.
  2. Vaccination is an effective measure against the spread of Covid-19 and is strongly recommended.

3. Measures to Prevent Infection

The host will perform the following:

  1. Enforce infection prevention measure guidelines among all people involved in event operation (including competition officials, staff, and other affiliates).
  2. Reduce event scale from 13,000 to 11,000 participants.
  3. Arrange starting blocks to ensure at least one square meter of physical distance for each runner at the start line.
  4. Implement measures against particle spray by prohibiting loud cheering and promoting encouragement of runners through applause, signs, etc.
  5. Provide individually wrapped food.

Code of Conduct for Runners

  1. Monitor your health for at least one week prior to the event. Record this on the Health Monitoring Check Sheet and submit it.
  2. Bring masks (preferably non-woven masks) and wear one at all times except when running or catching your breath after running. Store your mask in a waist bag, etc., while running and take it home with you when you finish. Do not discard masks on the course.
  3. Practice proper personal hygiene to prevent infection by washing your hands frequently, using disinfectant alcohol, etc.
  4. Maintain social distance between yourself and other participants, event staff, etc., (except when disabled participants receive guidance/assistance).
  5. Do not talk to others while not wearing a mask.
  6. Do not spit on the course.
  7. Take home used masks and food/drink waste. Do not throw away personal waste at the event venue, on the course, etc.
  8. Refrain from spending excessive amounts of time in changing areas and communal areas.
  9. If possible, arrive to the event wearing the clothes you will run in.
  10. For two weeks after the event, continue to monitor your health using the Health Monitoring Check Sheet.
  11. If you have a fever in the two weeks following the event, first consult with your regular physician. If you test positive for Covid-19, report your result to the event host.
  12. In addition to the above, follow all instructions and measures determined as necessary for preventing infection by the event host.

4. Miscellaneous

  1. The host reserves the right to cancel the marathon due to changing conditions regarding spread of Covid-19.
    Refund
    If the host cancels the event in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the host will take into account the timing of the cancellation decision and expenses incurred up until that point when determining whether to issue refunds or other necessary actions.
    *Donations will not be refunded.
  2. If you are unable to participate due to personal circumstances related to the new coronavirus infection, the participation fee (system usage fee) and donation will not be refunded.
